It’s never “too late” to take care of this important health and safety precaution.  We are radon professionals who are certified to perform radon tests.  We use a radon kit to test for radon gas levels and radioactive particles in the home.

RADON EDUCATION

You may not be aware of it, but radon is a part of your life – regardless of you live. Radon is a naturally occurring odorless, colorless gas. It is produced when certain elements such as uranium and radium break down in the rocks and earth beneath homes and release radon gas. Radon gas is radioactive.  Exposure to radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.  Alaska is the U.S. state with the most exposure to radon.can cause lung cancer —

RADON MITIGATION

Radon mitigation, or radon abatement, as it is sometimes called, is a mechanical system or a set of steps to be taken that will reduce levels of radon in the home. It’s impossible to eliminate radon completely.  However, a radon mitigation system works to expel the radioactive gas from the home, thereby keeping concentrations low. The costa of radon abatement is the primary reason why good real estate agents will often suggest a radon test before home purchase.

EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION

Our radon mitigation process involves our professionals conducting an evaluation of the home or building to determine the appropriate strategy and tactics. We consider the foundation type, building size, and soil composition before recommending a system. The system itself includes a PVC pipe network, a radon fan, and various sealing components.

A hole is drilled into the foundation slab, and a PVC pipe is inserted, extending into the soil beneath. This creates a pathway for radon gas to be drawn away from the soil. We then install the radon fan in the PVC pipe to create negative pressure beneath the foundation, preventing radon from entering the living spaces.

The radon gas is vented above the roofline or to an unoccupied area outside for safe dispersion. A pressure-measuring device is installed to monitor the system's operation, providing visual confirmation of its effectiveness. Post-installation, our technicians do follow-up testing to confirm that radon levels have been successfully reduced.
